Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS)

CAPS is an Australian Government payment that assists eligible individuals who have permanent and severe incontinence to meet some of the costs of continence products.

How does CAPS work?
The Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS) consists of a direct payment to clients. It is delivered by Services Australia and the payment is made directly into a client’s nominated bank account.

Eligible clients can purchase their products from their preferred supplier, such as Atlas McNeil Healthcare, and may, if they prefer, opt to have their CAPS payment deposited directly to their product supplier of choice.

For more information including the payment rate here.

You can choose either an annual payment made at the start of each financial year, or a bi-annual payment in July and January each year.

Who is eligible for CAPS?
To be eligible for CAPS, you must:

  • be 5 years or older
  • have permanent and severe incontinence (bladder or bowel) confirmed by a registered health professional
  • have eligible neurological conditions, or other conditions as mentioned on the Department of Health and Aged Care website
  • be an Australian permanent resident or citizen for as long as you receive the payment
